Onward, robots.

February 18, 2011

Hello, I was terrible at keeping one blog and so opted to start a second. Doing so prompted a big bag of nothingness for months. Elsewhere, the other blog is a lot simpler and easier to approach. I like that, so I’ll keep it going and leave this one here with a parting shot:

Come over and take a look at these robots over here, I’ll do my best to be better at posting them, honest.

On friday i took receipt of friend’s delivery. This little fellow came about simply because the rather sizeable, unblemished cardboard canvas was far too enticing to ignore. His name is Sean, not Shern. The caption was related, it was a macbook air.

Time flies: As the least likely blogger in the world there are a number of excuses for poor update etiquette presenting themselves. Moving house, working in Hong Kong, discovering the joys of Treyarch’s latest first-person offering, etc, etc..

As prior post tags can attest, the problem lies squarely on the shoulders of the writer himself. A terrible blogger, it takes very little for distraction to take root.

This post comes in Lieu of anything polished, a peek at something with a little more structure than a not-quite-daily named robot.

The idea for Option D has been floating around for a little while now, its simple, easy to execute and most of the work is already done. Sadly, time is short, focus is forever waning and the concept is yet to see fruition. Small victory comes in the form of these concept sketches. Option D will be a distasteful, vulgar little beast. The more conscientious writer would likely create a new place to house it’s profanity, but that would be foolish, a second blog is certainly never the answer. Not here.

More soon, it’s a written promise between you and I.

Dedicated -and bearing an uncanny resemblance- to a beardy friend, the Beard king should’ve been posted yesterday but, thinking better of rushing things, the night was spent augmenting his gingery beard and delightful M-head.

He blows goats for stones.

Busy days and a sickly disposition have brought about a serious drought in robot production. Travelled halfway to China for a gig on saturday, fell apart with a cold and plenty of minecraft on Sunday.

Tanner came about over the course of the weekend, I suppose his demeanour says it all. By ‘it all’ I mean ‘hueerrrrgghhh’.

Found a few old robots over the weekend, gathering dust in drawers crammed with fragments of yesteryear. I’ll scan and post a few of them one day.

Disgusted at missing the opportunity to post on the palindromic date previous to this, I’m disgruntled but happy to (finally) present Sherlock. Named -very kindly, and quickly- by my brother, Sherlock is a distinctly human fellow boasting cravings that you and I can surely relate to. If not necessarily agree with: Coffee and cigarettes*.

The more observant reader will note a striking resemblance to Jeremiah, the Needs More Robots poster boy. They certainly hail from the same place, Sherlock isn’t a poster boy though. Too smokey.

*for those not nicotine inclined, I’m reliably informed that chocolate makes a most agreeable substitute.

I’m moving house very soon and amidst the (horrible) business of clearing out old junk I came across an old wallet with a ghostly Totoro motif. Therein, this tiny shred of post it note brought about an unexpected smile. His name is william, like the bear that I own.

Been frightfully busy at work. To my shame, Graham took a few days more than ever intended. Bits and bobs here and there between meetings and word-stuff.

Preparing to close a Moleskine that’s been in use for an awfully long time – Graham marks what was the penultimate blank page. Got a new limited edition Pac-man replacement [day-glow yellow, blank pages] waiting in the wings, thankfully. #MoleskineAddiction

Jeremiah pointing. It’s a substandard photograph of an unfinished sketch and while the writer’s presentation skills obviously leave a little to be desired, thumbing through a few robot sketchbooks this fellow was eye-catching enough to warrant a hasty post during a time that all scanners in usual proximity were found to be on leave.

He’s something of a mascot for Needs More Robots and the logo will likely be based around his dome, so it’ll certainly be popping up quite frequently on here.

A little aside (23-10-10)

October 23, 2010

There’s a webpage that I view almost daily. I’m fairly certain it wouldn’t exist were it not for me. It isn’t anything special, just a list that’s tremendously dear to me. Among other things, it’s coupled with robots and chocolate [see below].
